Sloppy Joe Tacos

sloppyjoetacosHands down my two favorite types of food are BBQ and Mexican. So when both worlds mix, ahhh… the thought of it makes my mouth water!

Tacos are one of my favorite things to make… they are delicious and are super fast to make (two important things for me)!

Growing up my family was not a sloppy joe family, but now I am! So, I decided to modify my taco recipe and make sloppy joe tacos. Wow I’m glad I did!

Ingredients:

1 package of lean ground turkey (you can use beef too)
1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 onion, chopped
1 ¼ cups ketchup
½ cup bbq sauce (my favorite is Stubs and it’s certified gf)
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Gluten free taco shells (most corn ones are)
Optional toppings: shredded cheese, chopped green onions, diced tomatoes (anything else you love)

Instructions:

Cook ground turkey in a large skillet over medium-high heat, stirring until it crumbles and is no longer pink; drain and return pan to heat.

Add the bell pepper and onion. Sauté for about five minutes or until onions become translucent. Stir in the tomatoes, ketchup, bbq sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Reduce heat to low , simmer for 15 minutes or until sauce thickens.

While sauce is thickening you can heat taco shells in oven.

To assemble tacos, place ground turkey in shells and top with your favorite toppings.

Enjoy!
