If you read my blog often, then you know I’ve been sick off and on since early December! I’m not sure if it’s from working with kids, stress or allergies… but regardless I’ve been congested and have had multiple sore throats this season.
Since I have Celiac, I have to be really careful what medicines I take and I like to be as natural as possible. I found all these different home remedies for a sore throat; some very weird sounding (eat 4-6 crushed garlic cloves!)… so I kind of mix and matched a few until I came up with one that worked for me!
First off… if you have a sore throat go to the doctor and make sure it’s not strep!
I literally drank this morning and night for a few days and my continuous sore throat is 100% gone! I honestly really enjoyed it, and think I will continue to drink this on a regular basis. For me the cayenne was not hot, just enough to provide a soothing warmth to my throat!
If you have a sore throat, give this a try!
Ingredients:
1 cup hot water
1 Tbsp raw honey
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
1 lemon wedge (juice squeezed into water)
Instructions:
Mix all ingredients into hot water. Cayenne pepper will need to be stirred often since it fall to the bottom.
Enjoy!
I might try this today since I’m home sick, ugh!
You totally should, I promise it worked for me! Feel better soon!
I love using honey and lemon, but I’ve never added cayenne. What a great additive to help congestion and get some relief. I will definitely use this next time!
Yes! I swear by the cayenne!
