Hi friends, I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted on here so I just wanted to check in and let you know that I’m thinking of each and every one of you during this difficult time.
It’s been hard with what’s going on in our world to know what I should post about. Do I keep going on with business as normal or do I shift the focus to accommodate our current needs?
Regardless, I want you to know that we’re all in this together and I too am struggling at times with all this. I’ve worked from home for the past 3 1/2 years, but all the sudden it feels so different and isolating. Erik’s company has been working remotely for the past week, so trying to figure out our daily groove together while still being productive at work has been a little bit of a challenge. We have a home office (which was always mine), that I’m officially kicked out of- now I’m working at the kitchen table! Erik does conference calls and zoom meetings all day, so he really needs that privacy.
I never realized how much I like structure and a routine. I’m one of those people that can be very productive working from home because I stick to a schedule. Part of my routine was going to the gym and also getting out of the house daily- whether working from a coffee shop or just setting time aside to run errands. Being out and seeing other people is really important to me- so this has been hard.
Another challenge for us is that we are alone in Arizona- all our family is in California, so we’re missing them and worried about everyone.
Everyday I’ve been going on two walks- one by myself during the day and one after work with Erik. Something we’ve noticed is how many people are out walking/riding bikes/playing in the green belts (families together, all separated from others). It’s so refreshing seeing families spending quality time together, away from screens.
In our neighborhood, as I’m sure throughout the country/world, the sense of community is so strong that it really gives me hope that although we’re facing these tough times, something great can also come out of it.
Every day on my walk I see more and more sidewalk chalk drawings/inspirational words, that I truly look forward to seeing them and it brightens up my day. I thought you would all like to see them too! Here’s just a handful of the ones in my neighborhood.
I just want you all to know I’m praying for you and your families during this time. If there is anything I can do (whether that be post about a particular topic or offer you comfort/support via email), please let me know!
I do plan on sharing some of the recipes I’ve been cooking lately, incase you need inspiration in the kitchen!
Thinking of you all and hoping this passes soon!
xo, Kristina
